The Power Division has instructed all electricity distribution companies to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Muharram, especially amid ongoing heatwave conditions, to avoid any disruptions during religious events.
In a letter sent out on Sunday, Federal Power Minister Awais Leghari stressed the importance of strict measures to maintain electricity, particularly during Majalis and Ashura processions.
Discos have been told to check all transmission and distribution systems in sensitive zones, fix faulty equipment, and keep emergency teams ready, especially on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
The minister also directed that backup arrangements like generators and UPS systems be made available at key sites. Companies must also stock up on transformers and necessary materials across all subdivisions.
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for close coordination with local authorities and effective public communication to promptly address any power issues.
Leghari warned that failure to meet these responsibilities during Muharram would not be tolerated.
