Armed robberies continue to plague the city, with authorities struggling to curb the growing wave of violence. In just the past five days, three people, including a child, have lost their lives to robbers in Karachi’s Korangi district.

Citywide, two more citizens were shot dead within an eight-hour span while trying to resist robberies. So far this year, 46 people have been killed in similar incidents.

One of the most recent tragedies occurred on Monday in the Awami Colony Police Station area, where two unidentified men on foot tried to steal a motorcycle from 30-year-old Hafiz Faisal.

When he resisted, they shot him several times and fled with his belongings. Faisal, who was on his way to pick up his nephew from school, died from his injuries on the way to Jinnah Hospital.

In another incident near Orangi Town’s Disco Mor, two armed robbers stormed into a shop selling ice cream and juice. During the attempted robbery, the shopkeeper fired at the robbers, killing one, while the other escaped.

Tragically, a 20-year-old employee named Abid, who had come to Karachi just two weeks earlier looking for work, was caught in the crossfire and died at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
