The Home Department has announced that all CNG stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain closed due to a gas pressure crisis, according to ARY News.
The official statement clarified that the decision has been taken to prioritize domestic consumers who are struggling with low gas pressure during the severe winter season.
According to the notification, the CNG stations will remain closed until January 31 to ease the difficulties faced by households experiencing reduced gas supply.
Previously, the federal government had raised the sales tax on compressed natural gas (CNG) from Rs 140 to Rs 200 per kilogram.
A notification regarding this increase in sales tax has also been issued, outlining changes for Region One and Region Two.
As per the notification, the sales tax value in Region One has been increased from Rs 140 to Rs 200 per kg, while Region Two saw a rise from Rs 135 to Rs 200 per kg.
“The sales tax will be applicable at a rate of 18% based on the value of Rs 200,” the notification said.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) defines Region One as including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Gujar Khan. Region Two consists of other cities across Sindh and Punjab.
