Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has launched the Honhaar scholarship and laptop scheme to support students from public and private universities and colleges. This initiative aims to empower the youth with the necessary tools for a brighter and more technologically advanced future.
The launch event was held at Government College University Faisalabad, where cheques worth Rs201.19 million were distributed to 4,690 students from the Faisalabad division. As part of the Honhaar scholarship program, 3,211 students from public universities will receive Rs176.27 million in scholarships.
Additionally, 101 students from private universities will benefit from Rs2.8 million, and Rs22 million will be allocated to 1,378 students from public colleges.
Major educational institutions such as Government College University Faisalabad, University of Agriculture, Government College Women University, University of Jhang, and Faisalabad Medical University are in the list which will get benefits of this program.
During the event, CM Maryam Nawaz also revealed the laptop model under the CM laptop scheme. She announced the distribution of 40,000 laptops across Punjab, with a special reward for students scoring over 65%.
She assured them, “All students with more than 65% marks will receive laptops. I will personally hand over the laptops to you very soon.”
Additionally, the CM highlighted that while 30,000 Honhaar Scholarships are currently awarded annually, this number is insufficient. She said that it will be increased by 20,000 to support even more students in the future.
