Chicken rates decline in Peshawar

The price of poultry has seen a sharp drop, sliding from Rs460 per kilogram to Rs380 in just a week, a reduction of Rs80 per kilogram.

Even with this noticeable fall in chicken prices, restaurants and fast-food chains have not lowered the cost of their chicken dishes, which has left many customers frustrated.

With Eid-ul-Azha drawing near, the poultry market is experiencing a clear downturn in rates.

Still, food outlets across the city continue to charge high prices for chicken meals, sticking to the same rates they had set when poultry prices were at their highest earlier in the year.

Back when chicken prices soared to Rs500 per kilogram, restaurants increased the prices of chicken items on their menus.

Now that the cost of chicken has dropped considerably, many people are asking, “why those increased menu prices haven’t been revised?”
