A huge fire that broke out at a tyre warehouse in Karachi’s Moach Goth area was finally extinguished after a 21-hour operation, officials confirmed on Friday. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

The blaze began on Thursday afternoon and was declared a third-degree fire due to the large quantity of flammable materials such as rubber, oil, and carbon stored at the site.

Earlier reports suggested the fire had lasted over 24 hours, but authorities later clarified that it was brought under control after 21 hours of nonstop firefighting.

Thirteen fire tenders from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Rescue 1122 took part in the operation.

Firefighters said that the spread of the flames was accelerated by combustible materials, while narrow, unpaved access routes and thick vegetation made it difficult for vehicles to reach the warehouse.

Although no lives were lost, goods worth millions of rupees were destroyed, with around 80 percent of the warehouse’s stock reduced to ashes. Rescue teams managed to save the remaining 20 percent.

Thick black smoke from the burning tyres caused severe air pollution, prompting concerns from nearby residents.

Officials said that the cooling process is ongoing, and a formal investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire.
