The Deputy Commissioner of Sialkot has announced the closure of all educational institutions in the district after severe flooding left many school buildings underwater.
As per the official notification, both government and private schools will stay closed from September 1 to September 5 to safeguard students, teachers, and staff.
The directive was issued on the instructions of the Punjab School Education Department after reports of stagnant water inside several schools.
The decision has also been shared with the Commissioner of Gujranwala Division, the CEO (Education) of Sialkot, the Deputy Director (Colleges) of Sialkot, and the Section Officer (ACAD-I) of the Punjab School Education Department. School heads across Sialkot have been ordered to follow the instructions strictly.
Officials stated that the closure was necessary to avoid health and safety hazards while cleanup work continues in flood-hit areas.
