Karachi is expected to receive winter rain as a new weather system brings intermittent rainfall across Sindh, Balochistan, and northern areas starting the night of January 30, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The advisory said a westerly system will affect both upper and lower parts of the country, causing rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over mountainous regions during the forecast period.

PMD data indicated that rain will begin on the evening of January 30 and continue intermittently until February 2, affecting Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and surrounding districts. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Karachi, while other areas of Sindh may see isolated showers.

Northern regions, including Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat, and nearby areas, are expected to experience rain with snowfall at higher elevations. Heavy snowfall could disrupt travel, causing road closures, low visibility, and increased risks for tourists and residents.

In Balochistan, districts such as Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, and surrounding areas may receive rain and snow, with cold weather intensifying across the province.

Authorities have urged travelers and tourists to take precautions, avoid unnecessary journeys, and stay updated on weather conditions. Urban administrations in Karachi and other cities have been directed to ensure drainage systems are functioning to prevent water accumulation on roads.
