The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) is facing questions from consumers after its recovery teams started visiting homes to collect unpaid electricity bills and warning residents that their connections could be disconnected if payments were not made.
The visits have led to questions over whether LESCO has introduced any changes to its policy regarding outstanding bills. One resident said officials informed him that senior officers had issued fresh instructions for bill recovery and disconnections.
According to consumers, the previous practice was to disconnect a connection after two consecutive monthly bills were left unpaid. The recent recovery visits have raised concerns among some residents over the demand for immediate payment.

A LESCO spokesperson, while responding to the complaints, said mistakes could occur in meter readings or billing details. However, he denied that the company had intentionally issued inflated bills to consumers across the board.
The spokesperson advised consumers who believe their bills contain errors to contact their concerned LESCO office and have the issue corrected before the payment deadline.
