ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that citizens applying for their first national identity card can now get it free of cost.

Under this new initiative, anyone applying for their first non-smart chip ID card can visit a NADRA centre and receive it without incurring any fees. The card will be issued within 15 days, provided it is the applicant’s first-ever request for an identity card.

The decision has been welcomed by citizens, with many suggesting that the same facility should also be made available through the “Pak ID” mobile app to make the process easier and more accessible.

In addition to this, NADRA recently announced several job opportunities for young people in Sindh. The authority plans to recruit 200 Junior Executives (Data Entry Operators) in Karachi and nine other districts across the province.

Applicants must have at least an intermediate level of education and be under 25 years of age. Interviews for these positions are scheduled to begin on November 3.

NADRA has also acquired land for new offices in 11 districts of Sindh, including Mirpur Khas, Kotri, and Matiari, as part of its efforts to expand operations and improve service delivery in the region.
