ATTOCK: Academic activities at 41 government schools in Attock have been suspended for the past eight days as the buildings are being used to house police and other security personnel deployed for protest-related duties.
The closure has disrupted classes for hundreds of students, while parents and teachers have expressed concern over the loss of valuable teaching time as the academic year moves forward.
District education authorities said 21 boys’ and girls’ high schools in Hazro have been affected. Nine schools in Hassanabdal, seven in Fatehjang and two each in Attock and Jand tehsils are also being used for security arrangements.
The affected schools have been designated as temporary accommodation and rest facilities for security personnel arriving from various parts of Punjab.

A large number of police officials have been deployed across Attock as part of the security measures. Sources said nearly 30,700 personnel, including members of the Elite Force, Special Branch and Punjab Highway Patrol Police from six districts, were deployed in the district.
Some of these additional personnel have been accommodated in schools and other public buildings
The PTI had postponed its planned September 27 march until October 4. Despite the postponement, classes at the affected schools have yet to resume, leaving students waiting for academic activities to restart.
