Gold crosses Rs400,000 per tola as prices surge globally

Gold prices in Pakistan soared to a historic level on Monday, crossing Rs400,000 per tola for the first time.

In the local market, the price of 24-karat gold jumped by Rs5,900 in a single day to settle at Rs403,600 per tola.

The All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA) also reported a rise in the 24-karat 10-gram rate, which climbed to Rs346,021 after an increase of Rs5,058. For 22-karat gold, the price was quoted at Rs317,197 per 10 grams.

Silver followed the same trend, with 24-karat silver trading at Rs4,792 per tola after gaining Rs88, while the 10-gram rate stood at Rs4,108, up by Rs76.

Globally, gold prices also surged, with APGJSA recording the international rate at $3,818 per ounce (including a $20 premium), marking a $59 increase in a single day.
