ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Friday that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will restart its flight operations to the United Kingdom in September 2025.

At a press conference in Islamabad, Dar said flights from Pakistan to Manchester will begin that month, with three to four weekly departures. He noted that the public has shown strong excitement over the return of direct flights.

Earlier reports confirmed that PIA has made notable progress in preparing for the resumption of UK operations.

A two-member delegation, including Chief Operating Officer Khurram Mushtaq and General Manager Coordination Zulqarnain Mehdi, has reached Manchester to review arrangements ahead of the first flight.

Sources shared that the airline is preparing for its first UK-bound service after restrictions on PIA operations in Britain were lifted. The team will present a detailed report assessing the logistical and operational readiness for the relaunch.

Initially, PIA will operate four weekly flights between Islamabad and Manchester, with plans to expand services to London and Birmingham in the future.
