Karachi saw an increase in night-time temperatures on Friday as the heatwave continued, while the Meteorological Department predicted another hot and humid day for the city.
The minimum temperature recorded in Karachi was 30°C, while the temperature in the morning remained at 31°C with humidity levels reaching 75 per cent. Sea winds from the west and south-west were blowing at a speed of 16 kilometres per hour.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is likely to stay between 35°C and 37°C, while humid conditions are expected to continue throughout the day.
In Sindh’s rural areas, Dadu remained the hottest city, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 31.5°C.
A day earlier, Dadu witnessed record-breaking heat as the city surpassed its highest temperature recorded in the last 10 years.
The Meteorological Department stated that Dadu had previously recorded its highest temperature of 51.4°C on 18 May 2016. However, on Thursday, the temperature climbed slightly higher to 51.5°C.
The recorded temperature was 4.5°C above the average temperature for May. Meanwhile, Larkana and Jacobabad also experienced extreme heat, with both cities recording temperatures of 50.5°C on the same day.
