The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that vehicles without “Green Stickers” will not be allowed on the roads after November 15.

Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, Director General of the EPA, stated that exhaust testing has been made mandatory for all vehicles in Lahore as part of a strict campaign against air pollution.

“From November 15, any vehicle found on the road without an Exhaust Testing System (ETS) certificate or a green sticker will be impounded,” Dr. Sheikh warned. “Only vehicles meeting Punjab’s environmental standards will be permitted to operate on the roads.”

The EPA has reminded motorists that both emissions and noise level testing are compulsory.

Dr Sheikh announced that the emission testing system was officially launched in July 2024 to control vehicular pollution ahead of the smog season. In the first phase, the focus is on vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015.

Earlier, the deadline for vehicles operating without a green sticker was August 31.

Dr. Sheikh added that a zero-tolerance policy has been enforced against vehicles harmful to the environment, and any vehicle not verified through the ETS will face confiscation and legal action.

The EPA stated that it has launched its most rigorous anti-pollution drive so far in Lahore and urged citizens to get their vehicles tested immediately to avoid penalties or seizure.
