Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the provincial government plans to provide free electric scooters to 50,000 women across Sindh.
Speaking at a ceremony in Mirpurkhas during the distribution of pink electric scooters, Memon said the government would continue to expand the initiative to make transportation more accessible for women and improve their mobility.
Under the programme, women who complete the required training and successfully pass their driving tests are being provided with electric scooters. Memon said the initiative would eventually be extended to eligible women in all districts of Sindh.

He said the scooters were being distributed without any political or other discrimination, with driving skills set as the main eligibility requirement. Memon also announced plans to introduce pink taxis for women as part of efforts to improve their access to transport and encourage greater participation in economic and social activities.
According to Memon, the number of women obtaining driving licences has increased considerably as more families have become comfortable with women riding motorcycles. He clarified that the scooters provided under the programme are meant exclusively for women and warned that action would be taken against men found using them.
