ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy monsoon rains starting Monday night in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several other regions, with intermittent breaks over the next three days.
According to the department, a seasonal low-pressure system is currently settled over northwest Balochistan and is spreading horizontally. At the same time, strong monsoon winds are entering the upper regions of the country, while a westerly weather system is also present over northern areas.
Due to these conditions, significant rainfall with occasional heavy spells is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Thursday.
In terms of temperatures, Islamabad is likely to experience a high between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while on Wednesday and Thursday, the mercury may range from 36 to 38 degrees.
Rawalpindi is expected to stay slightly cooler, with temperatures forecasted between 36 and 38 degrees on Tuesday, and between 35 and 37 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the last 24 hours, most areas of the country remained hot and humid. However, scattered rain was reported in parts of northeast Punjab and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Punjab: Lahore Airport received 25 millimeters of rain while the city area saw 3 millimeters. According to WASA readings, Tajpura SDO Office recorded 21 millimeters, Lakshmi Chowk received 5, Nishter Town got 7, Chowk Nakhuda saw 6, Mughalpura SDO Office received 3.2, Paniwala Talab recorded 3.1, Samanabad SDO Office 2, Qurtaba Chowk 2, Iqbal Town SDO Office 1, and Jail Road saw 1.5 millimeters. Kasur recorded 15 and Sialkot 2 millimeters of rainfall.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rain update:
Balakot received 2 millimeters of rain, meanwhile, Dadu remained the hottest location in the country, where the temperature reached 45 degrees Celsius. Dalbandin and Sibbi followed closely with highs of 44 degrees.
In Islamabad, the highest temperature reached 38 degrees with an evening humidity level of 57 percent.
In Rawalpindi, the highest temperature was 37 degrees and the evening humidity stood at 56 percent.
