Gold jumps Rs10,000 per tola amid rising global tensions

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan rose sharply on Saturday as investors turned to safe haven assets after a joint strike by the US and Israel on Iran.

According to the Sarafa Association, the price of gold per tola increased by Rs10,000, taking the new rate to Rs540,562. The rate for 10 grams of gold also climbed by Rs8,574 to reach Rs463,444.

In the international bullion market, gold prices also moved higher, with the per ounce rate jumping by $100 to $5,278.

Silver prices followed the same trend in Pakistan. The per tola rate went up by Rs388 to Rs9,862, while the price of 10 grams of silver increased by Rs333 to Rs8,455.

A day earlier, gold prices had remained unchanged at Rs540,562 per tola. The rate for 10 grams was also steady at Rs463,444.

Meanwhile, silver had recorded an increase on Friday, with the per tola price rising by Rs270 to Rs9,474 and the 10 gram rate going up by Rs232 to Rs8,122.
