According to the details, a reduction of 65 paisa per unit has been proposed for one month under the monthly fuel adjustment formula. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has forwarded the request, and NEPRA is set to review it today.

If approved, the cut will also be passed on to K-Electric users. The request relates to the fuel adjustment for October.

The application states that in October, 27.36% of electricity came from hydropower, while local coal contributed 12.76%, imported coal 4.71%, natural gas 9.16%, imported RLNG 19.72%, and nuclear power 22.13%.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced the “Roshan Maeeshat Bijli Package” (Roshan Economy Power Package) aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors. The announcement was made during a meeting with business leaders and experts in Islamabad.

Under this package, industries and farmers will be provided extra electricity at subsidized rates for three years, until October 2028. They will receive additional power at Rs22.98 per unit under the plan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the current rate of Rs34 per unit for industries will be brought down significantly with the provision of extra units. He added that the Rs38 per unit rate for the agricultural sector will also be eased, along with additional electricity.
