The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Department has announced that all employees will work from home on Fridays as part of an austerity and fuel conservation effort in response to global tensions following the US-Israel-Iran conflict.
An official notification states that government offices will remain closed on Fridays for an initial period of two months, with the possibility of extension. All official work, including meetings, will be conducted online.
Shafi Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations, said the plan also includes a 25% reduction in fuel allowances for official vehicles and a 50% cut in overall government vehicle fuel consumption.

VIP protocol vehicles and helicopters will be restricted, non-essential government events and dinners curtailed, and officials are being urged to exercise fiscal prudence in spending.
This policy follows an earlier KP Cabinet decision that allowed a 50% work-from-home schedule for government staff to conserve fuel and encourage responsible governance. Field offices and relevant departments are expected to fully comply with the directive.
Exemptions apply to essential services such as police, rescue, and security agencies, which will continue normal operations. Officials said the measures are intended to reduce fuel demand, maintain government functions, and set an example of fiscal responsibility.
