People across Pakistan have been advised to be careful when buying bottled water after a recent review found several brands unfit for drinking.

The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) issued its quarterly report, testing 205 bottled water brands being sold in different cities. Out of these, 26 brands failed to meet the required health and safety standards.

The report noted that some samples had dangerously high sodium levels, others contained excessive arsenic, while several were found to have harmful bacteria. Two brands crossed the allowed potassium limit, and some had high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), making them unsafe for regular use.

PCRWR cautioned that contaminated water can lead to serious health problems and urged people to choose only those bottled water brands that are certified as safe.
