Lahore weather: Light rain, humid conditions expected over weekend

LAHORE: Light to moderate rain is expected in Lahore and different parts of Punjab on Friday night and Saturday, as shared by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

According to the forecast, a seasonal low-pressure system is present over northeast Balochistan, while moisture from the Arabian Sea is moving into southern Pakistan. A westerly weather system is also affecting the northern regions.

With these conditions, scattered showers are likely in areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, and Dera Ghazi Khan on Friday night.

Saturday is expected to be mostly hot and humid across Punjab, though some areas like Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, and Lahore may receive rain in the evening or at night.

Lahore’s temperature is forecast to range between 32°C and 34°C on Saturday, and between 31°C and 33°C on Sunday.

Rainfall was recorded across several parts of Punjab in the past 24 hours. Sheikhupura received 37mm, Multan saw 30mm in the city and 24mm at the airport, while Lahore received 19mm in the town and 8mm at the airport.

Hafizabad recorded 15mm, Okara 13mm, and Sahiwal 12mm. Other areas such as Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, and Sialkot also saw light rain.

Bahawalpur was the hottest spot in the province, recording a high of 40°C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature reached 32°C, with morning humidity at 84 per cent.
