Air Link Communication has confirmed that the launch of Xiaomi electric vehicles in Pakistan has been delayed, as the Chinese company focuses on meeting strong demand in its domestic market.

The update was shared during Air Link’s corporate briefing session with Topline Securities, following the release of the company’s Q1 FY26 financial results.

According to management, Xiaomi had initially planned to launch its EVs in Pakistan this year. However, the surge in demand within China has led the company to prioritize production of left-hand drive models for the local market, pushing back international rollouts.

As a result, Air Link does not expect Xiaomi EVs to launch in Pakistan anytime soon, Topline stated in its investor note.

Despite this delay, Air Link remains in talks with the government to secure export approvals for its products, which could increase the company’s revenue by over 200 percent once finalized, according to management estimates.

Xiaomi’s EVs gained attention in Pakistan last year when two units of the SU7 Max model arrived at Karachi Port.

Air Link CEO Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha confirmed the imports at the time and said that decisions regarding local assembly would depend on future market conditions and long-term plans.

Meanwhile, Air Link is preparing to move its operations to the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone, expecting the transition to be completed by December 2025 or in the first half of FY26.

The relocation, coupled with tax exemptions, is expected to strengthen the company’s earnings in the ongoing fiscal year.

The company also announced plans to open Pakistan’s first Apple retail store by the end of 2025. Additionally, a Xiaomi outlet is planned for Lahore’s Dolmen Mall.

Air Link is also working to onboard a new mobile brand for local manufacturing and is in discussions with an international electronics company to expand into home appliances such as air conditioners, washing machines, and microwaves. However, no agreement has been finalized yet.
