Chairman of the Intermediate Board Karachi, Faqir Muhammad Lakho, has announced that top-performing students from government colleges in the city will be awarded electric bikes under the Prime Minister’s initiative.

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) has also pledged full scholarships for position holders, giving them the chance to continue higher education free of cost.

A special ceremony is being arranged where Karachi’s brightest students, their parents, and distinguished guests will be invited. During the event, the electric bikes—already delivered for distribution, will be handed over to the position holders. Officials confirmed that the program will continue every year until 2030.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier introduced a nationwide scheme to distribute electric bikes among outstanding students as part of the government’s efforts to encourage eco-friendly transport and support the use of electric vehicles.

Under this plan, 100,000 electric bikes will be distributed across the country, along with 3,000 electric rickshaws and loaders. Position holders from all educational boards will be eligible for the bikes, while unemployed citizens will receive the rickshaws and loaders.
