Govt officers to receive Rs30 per unit instead of free electricity

The federal government has decided to provide cash payments to Power Division officers from BS-17 to BS-21 in place of free electricity units, according to the report.

Under the new arrangement, officers will receive Rs30 for each electricity unit allocated to them. BS-17 officers will receive Rs15,858 for 450 units, while BS-18 officers will get Rs21,990 for 600 units.

BS-19 officers will receive Rs37,594 instead of the previous allowance of 880 free units. BS-20 officers will be paid Rs46,992 in place of 1,100 free units, while BS-21 officers will receive Rs55,536.

The decision follows the discontinuation of free electricity supplies in accordance with a High Court ruling.

The Power Division has also issued a notification formally announcing the withdrawal of the free electricity facility.
