The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has called off its nationwide strike after successful talks with the government in Islamabad.
The association said the government agreed to consider dealers’ profit margins while deciding the daily petrol price. Following the assurance, the strike was withdrawn.
Association President Nauman Butt said the government had asked for 15 days to resolve the matter. He also thanked the authorities for considering the association’s concerns.
The association had earlier announced a nationwide shutdown of petrol pumps to protest the government’s new daily fuel pricing system and other issues affecting the petroleum retail sector.

The decision to postpone the strike came after negotiations with Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and other government officials.
During the meeting, the association presented three main demands. It called for an increase in the profit margin from 2.6 percent to 8 percent, restoration of the previous fortnightly or monthly fuel price revision system instead of daily pricing, and the removal of the quota system imposed by oil marketing companies.
