The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast mainly dry and cold weather in many parts of the country over the next few days.

According to the department, continental air is prevailing over most regions, bringing cold mornings and chilly nights. Islamabad is likely to experience dry weather with a noticeable drop in temperature during the early morning and late night hours. Similar conditions are expected in Murree and the nearby Galiyat areas.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are also set to remain cold and dry, with temperatures staying on the lower side. In Balochistan, most districts are expected to see similar cold and dry conditions, and there is no significant chance of rainfall.

At the same time, air pollution in Lahore has worsened considerably. On Tuesday, the city was ranked the second most polluted in the world, recording an overall Air Quality Index of 225, which falls in the “very unhealthy” category. The highest pollution levels were recorded in Thokar Niaz Baig, where the AQI surged to 568.

Although smog continues to blanket the city, there has been a slight improvement in the intensity of the cold. Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to reach around 28°C, making daytime weather warmer compared to previous days.

Officials have advised citizens, especially children, the elderly and those suffering from respiratory problems, to limit outdoor activities until pollution levels decrease.
