The Sindh government has decided to update the curriculum and introduce daily library periods in all public colleges across the Hyderabad region to improve learning quality and revive students’ reading habits.

The move was announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Colleges Secretary Nadeem-ur-Rehman Memon, which was attended by Director General of Colleges Navaid Rab Siddiqui, Regional Director Colleges Hyderabad Mustafa Kamal, and various college principals.

Officials agreed to revise the current curriculum to align it with modern academic and professional standards. The secretary noted that regular library sessions would enhance students’ comprehension, research skills, and vocabulary.

According to official data, 104,326 students are currently enrolled in 72 government colleges in the Hyderabad region, all of whom will benefit from the new reforms.

Secretary Memon instructed the Education Works Department to rebuild classrooms, boundary walls, and essential facilities in 12 colleges damaged by rain, stressing that students’ education should not be affected by poor infrastructure.

He also highlighted the importance of co-curricular and sports programs for student growth. The department plans to hold an Inter-College Sports Week in December to promote participation and strengthen student engagement.
