Karachi’s Jamshed Quarters police on Saturday arrested a man for harassing a woman during the recent spell of heavy rains in the city.
The incident, which occurred in Jamshed Town, was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread anger and calls for severe punishment.
Following the video’s circulation, police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. The suspect, identified as Muhibullah, was traced with the help of human intelligence and technical surveillance.
According to police, the footage clearly showed the suspect’s face, which made it easier to identify and apprehend him. He has been charged with harassment in a case filed on behalf of the state.
The arrest comes after heavy rainfall earlier this week left large parts of Karachi submerged, causing significant hardships for residents, particularly working women and students who struggled to commute.
