Gold climbs Rs4,100 per tola in Pakistan amid global surge

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan closed the week on a high, jumping by Rs4,100 per tola on Saturday.

With this increase, the per tola price rose to Rs359,800, while the 10-gram rate climbed Rs3,515 to reach Rs308,470.

Prices had hovered at Rs358,300 on August 12 before slipping to Rs358,100 on August 13 and further down to Rs357,100 and Rs356,200 on August 15 and 16.

A recovery was seen on August 18 at Rs357,700, though rates stayed volatile at Rs356,600 on August 19, Rs355,200 on August 20, Rs357,200 on August 21, and Rs355,700 on August 22.

In the global market, gold also strengthened, gaining $41 per ounce to settle at $3,371 per ounce, buoyed by safe-haven buying amid market uncertainties.
