Field Marshal General Asim Munir met important members of Pakistan’s business community in Islamabad on Tuesday, where he was briefed on the country’s economic situation and significant policy matters, as shared by sources familiar with the meeting.

The gathering was led by former caretaker minister Gohar Ijaz and included APTMA Chairman Kamran Arshad, SM Tanveer, who heads the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), along with members from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

During the session, Gohar Ijaz spoke about recent signs of economic stability and expressed the business community’s support for the government’s current economic direction.

He encouraged the creation of a more supportive environment for businesses to help keep the momentum going.

He also highlighted the need to align interest rates with inflation, addressed concerns related to the federal budget, and stressed the importance of shifting toward an export-driven economic strategy.

Additionally, he urged the government to protect national cotton and the country’s farmers, and called on it to fulfill the commitments made in the budget speech.
