Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated 49 digital classrooms and 20 satellite schools for special children across the province. The provincial government has also launched a new training programme to improve teachers’ sign language skills.
The initiatives were announced during a ceremony organised by the Sindh Special Education Department. Speaking at the event, Shah said every child deserves access to quality education and modern learning facilities.
The new digital classrooms are equipped with smart boards, e-learning tools and other technology-based facilities. According to the chief minister, these facilities will provide special children with better learning opportunities and help them prepare for an increasingly digital world.
Shah said that while technology and better infrastructure are important, trained teachers also play a key role in improving education. The government has therefore introduced a sign language training programme for teachers along with the digital education initiative.
The training programme is being conducted in collaboration with Deaf Reach and FESF. It aims to strengthen teachers’ communication skills so they can better interact with students facing hearing and communication difficulties.
The chief minister said the Sindh government would continue its efforts to improve education, rehabilitation and welfare services for special children across the province.
Around 20,000 students are currently enrolled in 67 special education institutions across Sindh. These institutions provide a range of services and facilities to students free of charge.
Students receive free education, rehabilitation, physiotherapy and speech therapy. The government also provides free transportation and nutritious meals, while enrolled students are given a monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000.
The newly launched projects are part of the Sindh government’s wider efforts to improve educational facilities and expand support services for children with special needs.
