The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) announced on Wednesday that it is moving toward complete digitalization of its operations and has also launched a question bank for the upcoming Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).
Officials said the council is shifting key functions such as student registration, monitoring, and college inspections to technology-driven platforms to reduce human involvement, improve transparency, and enhance efficiency in overseeing medical education.
At a briefing in Islamabad, PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, along with the examination department, shared details of MDCAT 2025.
They explained that registrations and supervision will be handled by the council, but the exam itself will be prepared, conducted, and marked by public universities to ensure neutrality.
The new MDCAT question bank has been developed on a uniform syllabus finalized by all provinces. Authorities noted that it will help minimize errors and address regional concerns by offering applicants a standardized preparation framework.
So far, over 97,000 candidates have registered for the exam, with numbers expected to reach 150,000 before the deadline. Thirty test centres have been set up nationwide.
Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal, who formally inaugurated the question bank, described the initiative as “a step toward restoring public confidence” and cautioned that any compromise on fairness would not be tolerated.
