The Sindh government has launched the second phase of the People’s IT Programme, an initiative focused on empowering the youth with advanced digital skills to help them succeed in the evolving tech landscape.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared that Phase II of the programme has begun with a significant budget of Rs1.4 billion.
He highlighted that this project has become a key model for digital training in the province, aiming to connect local youth with opportunities in the global digital market.
In its first phase, the programme trained over 13,500 students in advanced IT areas, and 300 of the top students were awarded laptops and Google Chromebooks as recognition for their performance.
With the second phase, the goal is to train 35,000 more students in 12 in-demand digital technologies, helping to create a more capable and tech-savvy workforce for the province.
Memon said this initiative reflects the government’s strong commitment to higher education and skill development, aiming to equip young people with the tools for success and contribute to the province’s economic progress.
He added that these education reforms are part of a wider strategy to create better prospects for the youth and support long-term development.
As part of this larger mission, the Sindh Information Science and Technology Department has introduced several Human Capital Development Programmes.
One includes a special training programme for students and graduates without a background in IT but with basic computer knowledge.
Delivered by experienced ICT faculty and industry professionals, this training focuses on technical and soft skills to help meet the growing demands of Pakistan’s IT sector.
