Umrah fares have surged this Ramazan as airlines sharply increased ticket prices in response to a sudden rise in the number of pilgrims.
Travelers are now paying record-breaking amounts. Business class tickets have climbed to as high as Rs500,000 per person, while economy fares are being sold between Rs180,000 and Rs200,000.
According to aviation sources, the first Ashra of Ramazan has witnessed an unexpected rush, pushing airlines to revise their fares. Economy and economy-plus tickets, which were previously available for Rs130,000 to Rs140,000, have gone up by nearly 40 percent. Business class seats that earlier cost between Rs425,000 and Rs450,000 are now exceeding Rs500,000.
Travel agents say flights operated by all major airlines are almost fully booked. With very few seats left, securing confirmed bookings has become increasingly difficult for travelers.
Experts caution that prices may rise further during the second and third Ashra if the demand continues at this pace. Market observers point out that airlines often increase fares when demand outstrips supply, and this year the surge has arrived faster than usual.
Even with the steep rise in costs, the spiritual importance of Ramazan continues to draw large numbers of pilgrims. Families intending to perform Umrah are being advised to book as soon as possible, as fares are expected to increase further in the coming days. Travel agents are urging people to act quickly to secure seats before prices climb even higher.
Pilgrims now face a tough decision: secure tickets now or risk paying more later. With limited availability, soaring prices, and the significance of the holy month, this Ramazan has brought an exceptional rush for Umrah travel.
