Rain, snow expected across Balochistan over next 48 hours

QUETTA: The Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued a weather alert for rain and snowfall in several districts of Balochistan, warning that the spell will continue for 48 hours, covering Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the Met Office, rain is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk and Kharan on January 21 and 22.

The department has also forecast moderate to heavy snowfall in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai and Zhob during this period.

Officials said snowfall is likely to begin in different parts of the province from tonight and may continue until Thursday evening. Areas such as Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Haramzai, Khanozai and Qilla Saifullah are expected to receive snow from tonight. Similar conditions are forecast for Kan Mehtarzai, Muslim Bagh, Qilla Abdullah and Gulistan.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious during the alert period and take necessary safety measures while travelling or moving in affected areas.
