In a move aimed at protecting public safety during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, the Punjab Home Department has banned all temporary mechanical rides across the province, including in Multan, as reported on Friday.

In an official notification, Deputy Commissioner Nauman Siddique instructed relevant authorities to carry out safety inspections of all amusement rides in Multan.

Deputy Commissioner Multan Nauman Siddique stated that only permanently installed rides in amusement parks will be allowed to operate, and only if they hold valid fitness certificates.

Owners and operators must obtain certification from their respective Deputy Commissioners to confirm that their rides meet safety standards.

The decision comes amid concerns that temporary rides often do not follow safety protocols and can pose serious risks due to overloading or poor maintenance.

Special teams under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner City Azka Sahar will oversee security arrangements at all public areas.
