20 PTI members invited to Trump’s swearing-in ceremony

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja stated that he and 20 other PTI members received invitations to attend the inauguration ceremony of newly elected US President Donald Trump.

He was speaking to reporters in Islamabad on Thursday, Salman Akram Raja was asked whether Imran Khan or any senior PTI officials were invited to attend President-Elect Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.

He clarified, “They were not attending Trump’s inauguration, but their people would be going.” Addressing current political situations, Salman Akram Raja mentioned that PTI had put forward certain demands during negotiations.

He said they were calling for the formation of two commissions, the release of their detained members on bail, and that everything should be done according to the law.

He emphasized that the government could implement these measures through a notification. However, he added, that if negotiations fail, the party would consider its next steps.

Just a day earlier, former foreign minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, also received an invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of US President-elected Donald Trump.

Bilawal was invited to attend the inauguration of US  President-elected Donald Trump in a personal capacity. During his expected visit, he is expected to participate in various key events and interact with other global leaders.

Bilawal is set to travel to Washington, D.C., in the coming days to witness the inauguration. Other world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, have also been invited to the event.

The second inauguration of Donald Trump is scheduled for January 20, 2025. The day will begin with a service at St. John’s Church in Washington, D.C., followed by tea at the White House.

Trump will deliver his inaugural address, sign key documents, and attend a luncheon. A parade from the Capitol to the White House will follow, and Trump will attend three inaugural balls that evening.

Over 150,000 people are expected to attend the event, including U.S. senators, congresspeople, and invited guests. Outgoing President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former presidents like George W. Bush and Barack Obama are also anticipated to be present.
