PDMA on high alert as heavy snowfall expected in Murree

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has approved the supply of rescue and relief equipment to Murree after forecasts warned of heavy snowfall in the area.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Provincial Health Minister and Cabinet Committee for Disaster Management Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique. The meeting was attended by PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia, along with other concerned officials.

During the session, the minister reviewed the stock of rescue and relief items, which included search and rescue jackets, snow chains for vehicles, mechanical saws, winter tents, raincoats, folding shawls, quilts, warm gloves, umbrellas, and hats.

Speaking to the media, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that all necessary arrangements had been finalized ahead of the expected snowfall in Murree. He added that the PDMA was supplying snow control equipment to the local administration to ensure readiness.

He further said that the authority was taking precautionary steps to safeguard lives and property, stressing that timely planning and preparation could help prevent accidents and emergencies during harsh weather.
