Electricity rates may decrease by 65 paise per unit nationwide, as the Central Power Purchasing Agency has requested a fuel adjustment reduction for October 2025.

NEPRA will review this request on 27 November, and the cut is expected to benefit K-Electric users as well. According to the CPPA, distribution companies received 9.63 billion units of electricity in October, with the per-unit production cost recorded at Rs 8.71.

During the month, 27.36% of electricity came from hydel sources and 22.13% from nuclear plants, with nuclear power being the cheapest at Rs 2.17 per unit. Local coal contributed 12.76%, imported coal 4.71%, local gas 9.16%, and imported LNG 19.72%.

Earlier, NEPRA approved a reduction of Rs 0.4812 per kWh for September 2025 under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment, which was reflected in November bills.

This relief also applied to K-Electric consumers under the tariff rationalization mechanism approved by the ECC on August 19, 2025.
