LAHORE: Lahore Traffic Police have banned the entry of loader rickshaws and motorcycle rickshaws on Canal Road, while extra personnel have been deployed to make sure the decision is strictly followed.

Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdur Rahim Shirazi said loader rickshaws usually transport heavy goods in an unsafe way, which increases the risk of serious accidents.

He said motorcycle rickshaws create traffic disorder and slow down vehicle movement, causing difficulties on the busy road.

The CTO also directed officials to take strict action against auto rickshaws carrying more passengers than allowed under traffic laws.

Traffic police officers have been deployed at important locations including Dharampura, Mughalpura, and Thokar Niaz Baig to enforce the ban effectively.

Authorities further warned that officers showing negligence during the crackdown could face departmental proceedings.
