Lahore Electricity Supply Corporation (Lesco) has banned the purchase of AMI smart single-phase meters from the open market, according to a report on Tuesday.
Lesco has fixed the market price of the single-phase meter at Rs11,666. Consumers will also have to pay additional security charges.
The utility will issue a demand notice based on the consumer’s load requirements. Previously, the purchase process was handled through outsourcing due to a shortage of stock.

During that outsourcing period, Lesco issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to many consumers who bought meters using these NOCs.
