Rawalpindi has reported another dengue infection, taking the total number of cases in the city to seven during the current season.
The latest case involves a resident of Dhama Syedan who was taken to Holy Family Hospital and admitted to the dengue ward. Earlier, a dengue case was reported in Asghar Mall Scheme on September 9.
District Health Officer Preventive Dr. Jawad Zahid said two cases have been reported so far in September. Four cases were recorded in July, while one was reported in March.
Despite the new case, Dr. Zahid said the dengue situation in Rawalpindi remains under control. The city recorded 582 dengue cases last year, compared with seven cases so far this year.

Health authorities have stepped up anti-dengue activities across the city, with 1,400 teams carrying out indoor and outdoor surveillance.
Dr. Zahid said the highest number of dengue larvae has been found in Misrial Road, Afshan Colony and Allama Iqbal Colony in Rawalpindi Cantonment.
Other areas where a significant presence of larvae has been detected include Naseerabad, Morgah, Dhama Syedan, Pirwadhai, Dhamyal, Hazara Colony, Pindora, Dhoke Mangtal, Dhoke Ratta and Chak Jalaldin.
As part of the ongoing campaign, teams have identified and eliminated dengue larvae at more than 145,572 locations across residential areas and open spaces.
Authorities have also taken action against people and premises found violating dengue standard operating procedures. So far, 2,543 FIRs have been registered, 652 buildings have been sealed and 2,119 challans have been issued. Fines totaling Rs2.568 million have also been imposed on violators.
The number of field workers has been increased to strengthen dengue control efforts. Dr. Zahid said finding and eliminating more mosquito breeding sites would help lower the risk of further infections.
Residents have been urged to keep their homes and rooftops clean and ensure that stagnant water does not collect, as standing water can provide breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
