The Medical Superintendent of Mayo Hospital, Dr. Abdul Muddabir, has stated that 32 cases of monkeypox have been reported so far this year.

He explained that six patients are currently receiving treatment at Mayo Hospital, while more cases are being reported from Lahore and nearby areas. According to him, people of all age groups have been affected by the virus, and none of the patients who tested positive had recently traveled abroad.

Dr. Muddabir expressed concern over the rising number of cases. He advised the public to visit the nearest hospital without delay if they notice symptoms such as red rashes on the skin, itching, or a high fever.

He also mentioned that there is no specific medicine available for monkeypox, but most patients usually recover within about 14 days. He confirmed that no deaths linked to monkeypox have been reported this year.

In comparison, last year saw 21 reported cases of monkeypox, including three deaths.
