The Punjab government has given the green light to introduce a Widow Support Card aimed at providing financial help to widowed women throughout the province. Under this program, every eligible widow will receive Rs100,000 as financial assistance.

As per the details, widows who have one child will receive an extra Rs25,000. Those who are supporting up to two children will be given up to Rs50,000 in additional support. The purpose of the initiative is to ease the financial burden on families who are struggling to make ends meet.

The Zakat Department plans to roll out the scheme before Ramadan. The total estimated cost of the program is Rs4 billion. Rural Zakat committees have been instructed to submit the names of deserving widows so that the funds can be distributed without delay.

The program is likely to provide relief to thousands of deserving women across Punjab.
