Lahore Traffic Police have added electric and hybrid vehicles to their patrol fleet, marking a step toward greener transportation in the city.
The update came after videos showing officers using modern electric vehicles went viral on social media, drawing public attention. The footage featured patrol vehicles with official police markings that appeared to be electric models.
Officials confirmed that the department has introduced New Energy Vehicles as part of ongoing operational upgrades. Currently, two models are in use: the BYD Atto 3, a fully electric SUV, and the BYD Shark 6, a plug-in hybrid electric pickup truck. These vehicles are deployed for routine patrolling and operational duties.
Police officials said the move supports wider provincial efforts to promote cleaner and more sustainable transportation in government departments, addressing Lahore’s air quality and environmental concerns.
