KARACHI: Authorities investigating the mysterious death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali have decided to broaden the scope of the inquiry to determine whether her death was due to natural causes, an accident, suicide, or foul play.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that Humaira, whose nearly decomposed body was discovered in her Karachi apartment located in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), had been going through a serious financial struggle in the months leading up to her death.

Investigators noted that on October 7, 2024, she had messaged ten people, including her brother Salman, via WhatsApp with the words, “Hello, I want to talk to you,” but received no replies.

It was also reported that she had reached out to others in her circle for financial help, but no one responded to her appeals.

A special team was formed to investigate the case, and so far, 63 people have been questioned, with their statements recorded.

The team is now going through digital and forensic evidence, including information extracted from Humaira’s mobile phones, tablet, and laptop. The passwords were found in her personal diary.

Interestingly, no medicines were discovered at the scene, and her hands were reportedly found clutched to her chest.

Her gym trainer shared that Humaira followed a strict fitness routine, spending three hours daily at the gym.

Humaira’s body was found on July 8, 2025, after police from Gizri Station, accompanied by a court bailiff, broke into her fourth-floor apartment in DHA’s Ittehad Commercial Area to enforce an eviction order issued by the court.

Her landlord had pursued legal action after she failed to pay rent since April 2024.

Although neighbors had noticed a foul smell, the flat next door remained vacant until February 2025, which likely delayed the discovery. Both the main and balcony doors were locked, suggesting she was alone at the time of her death.
