Pakistan Army announces new jobs for retired officers

The Pakistan Army has announced 33 vacancies for Civilian Gazetted Officers (CGOs) at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and other lower formations. The positions are open to retired, released and retiring Army officers who meet the required qualifications and experience.

The vacancies cover several specialised areas, including aviation, engineering, psychology, procurement and other related fields. Eligible applicants must submit their applications by 29 September 2026.

The appointments will initially be made for three years. Depending on performance and recommendations from the concerned organisation, the tenure may be extended for another year.

Who Can Apply?

The vacancies are open to Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels and Majors who have retired, been released or are retiring after completing their age or service limit.

Eligibility varies according to the position and the relevant Army arm. Applicants must have the required service background, academic qualifications and professional experience for the post they are applying for.

Age Limits and Retirement Conditions

Retired Colonels can apply until the age of 54 years, while Lieutenant Colonels and Majors must not be over 52 years of age.

For pilot positions, the maximum age limit is 55 years for Colonels, Lieutenant Colonels and Majors.

Applicants must have retired and been struck off strength within the previous two years, excluding Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR). In the case of pilots, the retirement period is extended to five years, also excluding LPR.

Aviation and Engineering Requirements

The two aviation positions based in Rawalpindi require candidates to have Grade-I or Grade-II staff appointment experience at GHQ or in an aviation setup. The advertisement also lists instructor-pilot and other specified aviation qualifications as preferable.

The Gujranwala positions include 10 aviation pilot vacancies and one Aviation EME post. Pilot applicants must hold a BA or BSc, possess the specified flying qualifications, have at least 1,500 flying hours and be in the FC-II medical category. Their flight safety record must also show no pilot-error accident during the previous five years.

For the Aviation EME position, applicants must have a BE in Aerospace or Avionics along with OEM training in the technical aspects of the relevant systems.

Another Aviation EME vacancy lists a BSc or BE in Aerospace or Avionics as preferable. Candidates must also have the specified service courses, QAMS and five years of experience in aviation maintenance.

Psychologist and Procurement Requirements

The psychologist position requires an MS in Clinical Psychology or ADCP, along with a clinical psychologist licence and five years of relevant experience. Specialisation in aviation psychology will be considered an advantage.

Six Major-level vacancies are available in areas including engineering, aviation, procurement, supply chain and medical administration. The qualifications and experience required vary from one position to another.

These positions include requirements such as an engineering degree, relevant service courses and experience in procurement. The Army Medical Corps position requires an MSc in Hospital Administration and completion of the Mid-Career Course. For specific positions, relevant master’s degrees, MBAs, supply chain qualifications and defence procurement courses are listed as desirable.

The Nowshera position is for a retired Lieutenant Colonel who has the required service course qualification along with a graduate or master’s degree.

The three technical positions in Rawalpindi are for Aerospace or Avionics engineers with relevant experience in technical coordination, planning, production control, flight engineering or base workshop operations.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Officers will not be eligible if they have faced disciplinary proceedings involving moral turpitude, character issues or misappropriation during their service.

The advertisement also rules out officers who were compulsorily retired, released or discharged because of inefficiency.

How to Apply for Civilian Gazetted Officer Jobs

Applicants can get the application form through the AG’s Branch portal, CP Directorate (CP-IV), GHQ Rawalpindi or the nearest Station Headquarters. Photocopied forms will also be accepted.

Candidates are required to submit their applications in triplicate, meaning three copies, to AG’s Branch, CP Directorate (CP-IV), GHQ Rawalpindi.

The application should include four 2 × 2 photographs, with the applicant’s name written on the back of each photograph. Applicants must also provide a copy of their CNIC and copies of their civilian qualification certificates.

Application Deadline and Selection Process

Applications must reach the designated office within 15 days of the advertisement being published in newspapers. The supplied notice does not mention a separate calendar deadline.

Shortlisted applicants will appear before a Special Selection Board at GHQ Rawalpindi. Candidates will have to bear their own expenses for appearing before the board.
