Govt likely to raise petrol, diesel prices in Pakistan from Sept 16

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to raise petrol prices from September 16 in the upcoming fortnightly review.

According to reports, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will forward its final recommendations to the Petroleum Division on September 15.

The proposal will then be reviewed by the Petroleum Division and the Ministry of Finance before being sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval.

At present, petrol is priced at Rs264.61 per litre, high-speed diesel at Rs285.83, light diesel at Rs159.76, and kerosene oil at Rs176.81.

Petrol is likely to rise by Rs1.54, reaching Rs266.18 per litre, while high-speed diesel may increase by Rs4.79 to Rs290.62 per litre. The price of kerosene oil is expected to climb by Rs3.06 to Rs179.87, and light diesel may go up by Rs3.68, taking it to Rs163.44 per litre.
