The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced a double-shift school system to improve access to education for children in remote areas.

According to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s spokesperson, Faraz Ahmad Mughal, selected schools will run a second shift to help students from far-off regions avoid long travel times and overcome the shortage of classroom space.

To roll out the programme, over 2,500 teachers will be hired temporarily, including 1,804 for primary classes and 639 for secondary classes.

These positions will be on contract, and applications can be submitted at local district education offices or via the education department’s official website.

Mughal said the provincial government has set aside a record budget for education and is working to equip schools with essential facilities.

Teacher training and the adoption of modern teaching techniques are also being prioritised to enhance the quality of learning.

He added that special focus is being placed on girls’ education, with new girls’ schools being set up and scholarship schemes launched.

These measures, he said, are part of a broader plan to raise education standards and ensure every child has access to quality schooling.
